About Me

securing an auto repair shop and parking lot

I own my own auto repair shop and have done rather well with it over the years. About a year ago, some of the cars parked outside of my garage were broken into and some things were stolen out of them. Since they were parked on my property, my insurance had to cover the cost of replacement which made my rates go up. I had to install a security system to appease the insurance company and provide my customers with the peace of mind that their vehicles would be safe with me. Improving Your Business's Security

by Karen Welch

Keeping a business secure is a critical responsibility for enterprises of almost any size. Unfortunately, business leaders will often lack the type of expertise needed to adequately meet the security needs of their company. When major gaps in the security system are left open, they can provide weak points that criminals may be able to target and exploit.

Identify Both Physical And Cyber Threats To The Business

The physical threats that a company faces can be among the more obvious to a business leader. While it is important to implement steps to reduce the ability of criminals to break into your building or to steal valuable inventory, it is also necessary for enterprises to protect their computer systems from attack. Unfortunately, this is a part of the security process that individuals may fail to appreciate until their company has already fallen victim to a cyber attack.

Appreciate The Benefits Access Control Systems Can Provide

Access control systems can be installed throughout your facility in order to provide more effective management of secured areas. In addition to keeping unauthorized individuals from entering these areas, an access control system can also provide a detailed breakdown of the employees and times when this area is accessed. These systems can be critical if there are sensitive areas inside your business where access will need to be strictly controlled.

Install Silent Alarms For Vulnerable Workers

When a crime is occurring in your business, employees will need to be able to call for help as quickly as possible. To this end, a silent alarm system can be an effective choice. One of these alarms will allow employees to discretely notify authorities when there is a crime occurring. In most cases, the perpetrator will be completely unaware that the alarm has been activated and that the police may be arriving at any moment. When installing these alarms, they should be positioned in a location that the employee can reach without making noticeable movements that a criminal would be likely to notice.

Have A Professional Threat Assessment Completed

It can simply be difficult for a business leader to adequately review all of the potential threats that their company will need to mitigate. However, there are business security consulting services that will be able to assist your leadership team with improving security by being able to identify the full scope of the threats that the company will have to mitigate. Furthermore, these consulting services can also offer suggested steps and upgrades to mitigate the security risks that have been identified.
